IIT, Jahangirnagar University Hosts Workshop on AI, IoT, and Satellite-Based Communication

The Institute of Information Technology (IIT) at Jahangirnagar University (JU) successfully organized a day-long workshop titled “AI, IoT, and Satellite-Based Communication and Its Uses” in collaboration with TechKnowGram Ltd and supported by IEEE JU SB, IEEE JU CS, IEEE JU WIE. The event, held at the IIT Gallery, brought together researchers, technologists, and students to explore the transformative impact of emerging technologies in Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Satellite Communication Systems.

The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of the integration of intelligent systems and satellite connectivity in building the digital future of Bangladesh and beyond.

Distinguished Speakers

The event featured an impressive lineup of international and local experts, including:

  • Mr. Ahmedul Islam Babu, Founder & CEO of TechKnowGram Ltd. and Sobijanta.AI
  • Mr. Peng Chu, CEO, StemSel Foundation
  • Mr. Miro Kosteki, CTO, StemSel Foundation

The speakers shared practical insights on the current applications and future trends of AI, IoT, and satellite communication technologies across industries such as healthcare, agriculture, smart cities, and education.

The meeting is chaired by Prof Risala Tasin Khan, Director, Institute of Information Technology, Jahangirnagar University

Key Highlights

Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in:

  • Interactive discussions and live demonstrations of IoT systems and AI-based innovations.
  • Showcase sessions highlighting real-world use cases of intelligent communication systems.
  • Hands-on learning on satellite-enabled IoT and automation frameworks.

Over 80 participants from the industries attended the event. Each participant received an e-certificate recognizing their successful completion of the day-long workshop.

Remarks

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ahmedul Islam Babu emphasized the importance of building local capacity in AI and IoT research, stating:

“The next wave of innovation will depend on how we connect intelligence with real-world systems — from remote sensing to smart industry.”

The Director of the Institute of Information Technology, Jahangirnagar University, also addressed the audience, stressing the importance of industry collaboration. She stated:
